Our women-led team is made up of inspiring individuals.

This year, we invite you to get to know more about our Chajul-based team through monthly posts!

We are delighted to introduce you to our Operations and Community Outreach Manager, Ana Eymi Canay Canay. Not only was Eymi one of the first girls supported by our Youth Development Program, but she has also been a Limitless Horizons Ixil staff member for the past seven years.

Eymi shares that education allows us to improve the quality of life in our families while also enabling us to become good citizens. She is a passionate advocate for girls’ education; growing up in a town where girls face systemic barriers to pursuing their studies, she has experienced first hand the struggle of finishing high school and enrolling in university.

“From a very young age, girls are excluded; they don’t think that they can become directors or managers. We must break these paradigms so that girls know that they can do many things, and that they can earn the same salaries as men.”

For Eymi, Limitless Horizons Ixil is helping to break these patriarchal norms through our wraparound youth and family services. “Limitless Horizons Ixil puts its scholars first and is always thinking of the ways that they can succeed in every sphere of their life.”

Now that Eymi is a mother herself, to 1-year-old Emanuel, she is working both professionally and personally to extend learning opportunities to the youth of Chajul. She inspires us every day with her infectious laugh and positive attitude.

Thank you for all you do, Eymi!
