School Development & Educational Specialist

We are currently hiring for a School Development & Educational Specialist to work in Chajul, Guatemala, starting on or before July 4, 2022 (we are reviewing applications on a rolling basis and filling the position as soon as we find the right candidate). This person will support with the coordination of our middle school during its opening year in Chajul. The right candidate will support the local team—led by indigenous Guatemalan women—by supporting school management, communicating with partners, and supporting the School Director with coaching and professional development. They must have excellent verbal English and Spanish skills and at least 3 years of professional work experience, preferably as a teacher or school administrator or working on educational leadership development. 

We seek a motivated, relationship-oriented School Development & Educational Specialist, with cross-cultural agility, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and passion for education and international community development that supports equitable practices and gender equality. The ideal candidate will be adaptable, supportive, independent, and self-motivated. They will be culturally sensitive, a team player, extremely patient, excel in coaching roles, and can support local staff to step into and learn all necessary parts of their school leadership roles. They will be detail-oriented, organized, a strong critical thinker, and must have excellent oral English and Spanish skills. The School Development & Educational Specialist will work closely with the school team and will report to the Guatemalan Managing Director and the Executive Director. They will commit to a minimum of 13 months in the position.

International Communications & Program Support Coordinator

We seek a creative, flexible, relationship-oriented team member with excellent communications and interpersonal skills, who is passionate about international community development and interested in nonprofit management, communications, and development. The International Communications & Program Support Coordinator will work to further the development of our programs through communications and donor relations, as well as building capacity for local team members to lead their programs. The ideal candidate will be an adaptable and supportive team member, an independent, self-motivated worker, and strong critical-thinker. They must also have excellent written and oral English skills, advanced oral and written Spanish skills, and must be comfortable working closely with a diverse international and often remote team. The International Communications & Program Support Coordinator will report to the Director of Development & Communications (based in the US) and work in partnership with the rest of the Guatemalan and international team.
