Meet Rosa and Support Change in Chajul

Posted on May 9, 2017

When 39-year-old Rosa was a young girl in Chajul, Guatemala, the future was not bright. A civil war had destroyed much of the community, poverty was unavoidable, and education took a backseat to mere survival. Now, with the partnership of friends like you, Limitless Horizons Ixil is helping transformational changes take root — mothers are able to support their families, young women are attending university and becoming professionals, and community literacy is slowly climbing. With Mother’s Day around the corner, we’d like to introduce you to Rosa and her...

Introducing Our New Scholars Limitless Horizons Ixil was thrilled to welcome 15 new middle school scholars into our family in recent months!   Each of these youth and their parents met with continuing scholars, their families, and staff to share goals and expectations of the 2017 school year. It was a lively day, full of excitement and anticipation, and we are thrilled by how committed all of our parents are to supporting their children’s education. Give a life-changing gift to families like the Imuls today!

It is with great joy that I am writing to all of you. Since 2009 I have been the director for Limitless Horizons Ixil in Chajul, Guatemala. I cannot believe how fast the years have gone by and how much we have grown. I spend so much of my time working with our scholars and their families that I do not often reach out to you, our Limitless Horizons Ixil supporters.    We count you—our friends, donors, and sponsors—as critical members of our extended Limitless Horizons Ixil family who are creating change in my community. The Chajul I see today is vastly different from the one I grew...

“Educating with Love” — a theatrical success!

“Educating with Love” — A Theatrical Success! We have talented performers in Chajul! We know this because a group of 11 Limitless Horizons Ixil scholars, interns, and staff recently won first place in a local theater competition. The competition was held by our partner organization Pan American Social Marketing Organization (PASMO), whose mission focuses on the prevention of sexually transmitted diseases, family planning, and child nutrition. Our play “Educating with Love” focused on adolescent sexual health and education. As a result of winning first place,...
