This holiday season, there is so much to celebrate at Limitless Horizons Ixil. Our community of supporters, our team, and the youth of Chajul are commemorating 10 years of opportunity and education in Chajul. We are also honoring you, our wonderful supporters who have empowered us to effect change in Chajul over these 10 years and continue to support as we move forward into 2015 and beyond.
We are also celebrating an enormously successful year in 2014 during which both our Saber Sin Límites (Limitless Knowledge) Community Library and our Youth Development Program showed exceptional and unprecedented growth!
We want to share with you the results of a incredible year of success in 2014 that you helped make possible:
- 100% of our 56 youth passed their academic years. Our middle school youth have higher grade point averages in 2014 than ever before (and we are still awaiting final high school results)!

100% of our youth in their final years of middle school and high school graduated. All of our middle school graduates are continuing directly on to high school in 2015.

We had a total of 19 high school graduates this year, more than in all prior years combined! This figure reflects the fact that our dropout rate has steadily decreased in recent years.

3 of these graduates have already been granted university scholarships for 2015 and many others are in the midst of the university application process.

Our library has grown quickly, and we now have 1,615 library members and 7,596 books.

The library has 13 teachers registered who plan their lessons using reference and text books with support from our librarians. These teachers often refer their students to the library so that they can complete research assignments. Ensuring that the library can support local teachers is a key part of our contribution towards improving Chajul’s quality of education.

In 2014, 20 mothers participated in our Artisan Program, producing beautiful woven products and earning up to double their income.
Limitless Horizons Ixil’s successes in 2014 are thanks to our holistic approach that ensures that our youth and their families receive the support they need to overcome barriers to education and to succeed. Your generosity is instrumental in ensuring that the Limitless Horizons Ixil team has the capacity to operate and continuously improve our programs.

Maricela is the first person in her family to attend middle school. She is a trailblazer and is bravely striving to change her family’s future.
We have nearly 20 new scholars just like Maricela who need our support to go to school and develop into the changemakers we believe they can be.
