Class Champions are a community of donors who come together to support an entire class at Colegio Horizontes. This model reflects the holistic, community-centered approach that has always guided Limitless Horizons Ixil. Your contribution, combined with others, ensures that every student in the class has access to high-quality education, nutritious meals, mentorship, and enrichment opportunities.
Traditional sponsorship programs typically pair donors with one child. Class Champions take a more equitable and community-centered approach: your gift combines with others to support the whole class, so every student benefits equally and no child is singled out.

As a Class Champion, you’ll receive quarterly communications that will include:
Yes! You can choose to support the Class of 2030 (who started in their first year of middle school in January 2026) or the Class of 2029 (who started 8th grade in January 2026). You will follow their progress as they advance year by year.
Yes! All written communications are facilitated through Communications Director, Elena Laswick. We encourage you to send a letter or video of encouragement and/or photos to your sponsored class by emailing us at communications@limitlesshorizonsixil.org.
Yes—they would love to meet you! All Class Champions are welcome to visit Colegio Horizontes in Chajul to meet the students, teachers, and mentors in person. Many Class Champions connect through updates, videos, and photos, and Ceiba-level and Volcano-level supporters also have opportunities for virtual classroom visits and Q&A sessions with teachers and/or mentors.
Supporting Colegio Horizontes as a Class Champions is easy and flexible—while we encourage you to support for at least a year and many Class Champions choose to support an entire secondary school experience, you can start and stop at any time. By supporting your class over time, you’ll witness their progress year after year and celebrate their achievements alongside them.

For two decades, our child sponsorship program was at the heart of Limitless Horizons Ixil and we are deeply grateful for the relationships and impact it has created. Throughout our organizational history, we’ve been intentional about cultivating positive and meaningful connections between students and sponsors and are proud of how we managed our sponsorship model. At the same time, we recognize the importance of adapting to evolving perspectives in the field. International development best practices are shifting away from 1:1 child sponsorship toward community-centered approaches. The new Class Champions funding model carries forward the spirit of sponsorship and its best facets, while aligning with these best practices, lowering administrative costs, and creating a more sustainable impact for all students in Chajul.
