LHI's Saber Sin Límites (Limitless Knowledge) library is kicking off the spring as it should be — by growing faster than ever! But we truly need your help keep the momentum going.
LHI has been given an incredible opportunity to secure funding for Saber Sin Límites, Chajul's first ever community library, through the international fundraising website GlobalGiving. The library is critical for creating educational and economic opportunities in Chajul, as it is the only place for students and teachers to access reading materials and study in a quiet, well lit space. The value of the library is clear by its constant growth — we now have over 900 members!
However, we need financial support in order to keep up with our growing membership and continue to provide these children with high quality services. We need funds to hire and train a new assistant librarian, buy new textbooks so we have up-to-date resources for our users, build study tables for students, and to invest in our staff capacity to develop new library programming (like a reading buddies program!)
If we can raise $4000 from 50 unique donors (of $10 or more) forSaber Sin Límites through the GlobalGiving Challenge, LHI will be awarded a permanent spot on GlobalGiving, leveraging your donations to benefit from this site that attracts philanthropists from around the world! We have one month to reach our goal: the challenge ends April 30. But please donate early this Wednesday April 4th because on this one day, GlobalGiving will match 15% of your donation! (Matching starts Wednesday at midnight eastern time and matching funds could run out quickly — so night owl East Coasters please donate as Tuesday night turns to Wednesday morning or early in the AM, and West Coasters please donate Tuesday night just after 9PM.) Join the challenge here!
MUCHÍSIMAS GRACIAS! LHI depends on your continued support to bring education and opportunities to the people of Chajul.
Warmest wishes from Chajul,
